FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

What is the Peach State Overland Fall Color Ride about?
The Fall Color Ride is a vehicle-based adventure through the backroads and byways that includes photo opportunities of breathtaking overlooks, waterfalls, and backcountry scenery. You bring your vehicle and camping gear, and we guide you through the weekend.

Where is it, and what’s the itinerary?
Basecamp for the weekend is located in Tellico Plains, Tennessee, about 2.5 hours north of Atlanta. Guests are free to arrive as their schedule allows/permits on Friday, October 26th between 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM, although we recommend getting there earlier so you can get to know your fellow overlanders. Saturday includes up to 3 mini-workshop opportunities, and 3 sections of riding. Section 1 is entirely pavement, Section 2 is off-pavement, with little-to-no difficulty, and Section 3 is moderate off-pavement terrain. We’ll also stop to enjoy a few waterfalls as time allows, and take in the majestic scenery. Sunday includes 1 section of riding that is about 50% off-pavement, and 50% pavement, and our weekend will conclude early-afternoon in Blue Ridge, GA. A detailed itinerary, complete with waypoints, packing info, etc., will be emailed to all registered participants prior to the weekend.

I’ve never been overlanding before; should I sign up?
Yes, we love introducing new people to overlanding. Just think of it as a road trip, mixed in with some glamping, good friends, good food, camp fires, and an experience that you’ll never forget. Trips like the Fall Color Ride are perfect opportunities to dip your toe in the “overlanding” pond.

Do I need to have 4WD experience?
No, we’ll help walk you through your time with us. Guests with very little or no offroad driving experience should expect to leave feeling confident in their new skill set.

Can I drive a stock 4WD vehicle?
Yes, we encourage stock rigs. These trips should be the testing ground for discovering a need for equipment or testing what you already have. If you have a specific question about whether your vehicle is capable of handling the terrain for this event, please contact us directly before registering.

My vehicle is AWD, is that the same thing?
No. AWD is not the same as 4WD. We highly encourage true, 4-Lo equipped vehicles over AWD vehicles for offroad and overland applications. While AWD technology has vastly improved and is quite impressive in on-road applications, it often suffers and/or becomes a liability offroad. If you have a specific question about whether your vehicle is capable of handling the terrain for this event, please contact us directly before registering.

I have a full-size truck, will it fit?
Sure, it’ll fit and based on your vehicle’s width you might leave with some bumps and bruises. Most of the trails on this ride are more wide open than our other events and expeditions.

What about trailers; can I pull a trailer on this trip?
Trailers are fine for camping. We will be camping in the same spot Friday and Saturday evening, so you will have the ability to un-hook your trailer and go. Please note; trailers will NOT be allowed to be towed during the driving segments of the Fall Color Run on Saturday.

Is there power available at camp?
Yes, for an additional fee, you can haz the powah! A limited number of powered campsites are available for $30 each.

What do I need to pack?
We’ve got you covered. Each guest will receive a comprehensive packing list prior to the trip and coupon codes to shop with our industry partners if there’s something they need.

Are my passengers free?
No. We put much thought into this, and ultimately decided the best way to keep the cost of this event as low as possible, while being fair to all participants, is to charge a per-person rate for each passenger ages 10 and up. Kids 9 and under are free.

What about Kids? And Pets?
This is absolutely a family-friendly, pet-friendly atmosphere and event. We only ask that pets be leashed, and kids too… if necessary. 😉 Please note, for safety reasons, we do restrict the mini-courses to participants ages 10 & up; children ages 9 and under will not be permitted in the mini-courses. But, pro-tip – if they are well-behaved, Daddy Badger usually keeps frozen treats in his Dual Zone Dometic Fridge/Freezer, and he loves to give them away.

What’s the Cancellation Policy?
Cancellations received before 11:59 PM on Friday, October 19, 2018 will be refunded 50%. Cancellations received after 11:59 PM on Friday, October 19, 2018 will not be refunded.
